Natural History Museum of Venezia Tridentina Archive (1858 – 1974)
Series 6 ““Carteggio della Direzione (II/a)”, 1929 – 1965
Subdivided into six sub-series, this particular series includes the correspondence of the management of the Museum, written during the initial years of activity of the institution by Trener, president of the College of Curators, then from 1932 onwards, by the director, Bonomi, and after a period under external administration, again by Trener as director and president of the College of Curators and after Trener’s death, by the director Gino Tomasi.
Subseries 6.3 “Corrispondenza generale”, 1932 – 1964
The general correspondence of the Museum Management from 1932 until 1964 is filed under the sub-series listed below. This is correspondence with private individuals or with organizations on various topics, often with a private connotation. Most of the documentation carries a II/a classification.

Series 15 Carteggio relativo alla rivista ‘Studi trentini di scienze naturali’ (IV/a),
1925 – 1965
This series introduces the correspondence between Dr. Lino Bonomi and Prof. Edgardo Baldi in regard to the publication of the papers entitled, respectively, ‘Relazione preliminare sulle ricerche al Lago di Tovel’ and ‘Ulteriori ricerche al Lago di Tovel’.
On occasions the management would send the researcher some material to be classified, expressing its willingness to publish the results of the research in the magazine, whilst in other cases it would simply suggest to the researcher what type of research to undertake for publishing or otherwise the researcher himself would propose which works to publish. Subsequently, the management would send the manuscripts to the printers, forward the drafts to the authors for correction, add the illustrations (graphics, maps, photographs…) and check the accuracy of the printing plates.

Series 16 Carteggio relativo alla rivista ‘Memorie’ (IV/a), 1931 – 1961
In order to bring together the more substantial articles and papers, the Museum decided to launch the publication of a journal called ‘Memorie del Museo di storia naturale della Venezia tridentina’ alongside the ‘Studi Trentini di Scienze Naturali’ journal. In 1931 the College of Curators took due note and approved the deliberation of the President of the College in regard to the ‘Memorie’ journal, appointing as editor Bonomi, who in 1932 also officially became editor-in-chief, taking over the position held by Trener in the first year of publication.
Bonomi kept his post as director of the Museum until he was suspended in 1945. The publication of the ‘Memorie’ journal, which consisted of files bound into volumes, was stopped due to the war: the Year XI edition came out in 1943. Years of silence followed until 1947 when Year XII was published. In this series relating to research on Lake Tovel, it is worth mentioning the correspondence between Lino Bonomi, Prof. Baldi and Dr Livia Pirocchi regarding the editing and publication of articles in the journal. Of particular interest in this series is the material relating to the publication of a monograph volume called ‘Memorie’ dedicated to Lake Tovel. In both the ‘Studi Trentini’ journal and the ‘Memorie’, the Museum management would first of all contact the researcher and then monitor him closely both in his work and in the subsequent publication of the paper he produced.
