“Francesco Borzaga” fond stores significant amounts documentation produced by himself as a Trento branch secretary of Italia Nostra.

Since the 1950’s, Borzaga has dealt with issues about environmental and landscape protection, resulting in speeches, articles and conferences. In that period he met and worked with numerous personalities: Ezio Mosna, naturalist and geographer; Renzo Videsott, environmentalist, naturalist and director of Stelvio National Park; Franco Pedrotti, full professor of botany and ecology at many Italian universities; Livia Tonolli, then director of the Italian hydrobiology institute in Verbania. He has also collaborated with the Italian movement for nature protection, with Pro Cultura and Italia Nostra associations as well, where he was the Trento section secretary up to 1970.

Among the activities in which he was more involved, in the late 1960s he was against the hydroelectric exploitation of Valle di Genova and Alta Val di Sole waters, thanks to which the project proposed by ENEL was finally abandoned; another important initiative during this period was the great commitment to safeguard Trentino territory, in particular Tovel lake and valley. At that time he met, among the others, Fulco Pratesi, Arturio Osio, Antonio Cederna and Renato Bazzoni, with whom he established fruitful relationships lasting over time.
