The results obtained by the Agricultural Institute of San Michele all’Adige (now Edmund Mach Foundation) within the SALTO Project promoted by the Province of Trento and which saw the contribution of numerous institutions, lead to the identification of the causes of the non-reddening of the lake by Tovel.
The determining factor: the close correlation between the methods of managing animals on the mountain pastures and the appearance of algal blooms.
