Carbon copies answers on tissue of Baldi-Martello correspondence from Diego Martello (lawyer) Archive remain along with the originals sent by Baldi. In addition to the above correspondence relating to the management of the Institute, the following documents are preserved: different letters with other people and scientific institutes; the correspondence relating to the scientific report on Lake Tovel, held by Baldi at the Convention organized by the Natural History Museum of Trento, on 27 May 1939; and the correspondence referred to the controversy with the newspaper Messaggero in Rome (February-May 1939).

In addition the following Insert is present: Lago Tovel (28 February 1939 – 31 May 1939) containing one letter from Lino Vaccari, Head of the Alpine Botanical Garden Chanousia, to Edgardo Baldi to thank him for sending the preliminary report on Lake Tovel research and the brochure named “Prospettive genetiche in limnologia” on 6 March, 1939.

It includes letters of outrage and replies generated by a short article that appeared in “Il Messaggero” on March 3, 1939, apparently, the article, aimed at discrediting the scientific value of the research conducted by Edgardo Baldi on Lake Tovel.

Letter from Lino Vaccari, Head of the Alpine Botanical Garden Chanousia, to Edgardo Baldi to thank him for sending the preliminary report on Lake Tovel research and the brochure “Prospettive genetiche in limnologia” 6 March, 1939.

It includes letters relating to various subjects: Prof. Zavattari; information about the subscription to the journal “Zoologischer Anzeiger”; abduction of fish and fishing gear; monography about lake Tovel; competition notice for assistant position; correspondence among Pirocchi, Martello and Baldi concerning the following subjects: a higher salary for the caretaker-attendant Felice Bono; monography about lake Tovel; Dott. Dosio; preparation for the official visit (Prefect, authorities, etc.) in Villa Monastero; Healing of Martello’s wife; Alpine Garden of Bondone, The designation of Martello like a Member of the University Board of Directors; setting up the hydrobiology course; volume dedicated to Marco De Marchi; book about Tovel; Generale Maltese; official visit in Varenna; letter of 28 August (reference number 591concerning activities carried out during the survey in Trentino from 23 to 27 August: samples and measurements at Bondone pools; collection of planktonic material and colour photographs at Lake Tovel, slightly reddened.

Saturday 4 April 1942, at 7:40 p.m., The review of Tovel Lake monograph written by Edgardo Baldi was broadcast on the radio.

Sub file Anno 1943 (05 January 1943 – 21 December 1943)

On 29 aprile 1943, At the Circolo Filologico Milanese and in Italian premiere, two scientific documentaries by Edgardo Baldi were showed: “Plankton” and “Lake Tovel”. In early June the film production company Incom arrived at the Institute to shoot scenes for the film “Le vitamine del mare”. Arrangements were made to redo “Plankton” at normal pace and maybe to shoot a color documentary on Lake Tovel.
