Archival sources about lake Tovel
The reference and starting point of archival research was the archival heritage preserved at the Water Research Institute (IRSA), section of Verbania, Historical Archive of the Italian National Research Council.
Since the first years of its activity (1938), the Institute has played a central role in the hydrobiological and ecological studies in Italy, venue of national and international conferences and point of reference for studies on inland waters in Italy by researchers and foreign institutions.
Following an in-depth study of the papers of the Institute, in order to complete the framework of information useful for the reconstruction of the history of scientific research on the lake, it was necessary to expand the investigations to other Italian institutions and institutes of conservation in Trentino, protagonists of those events as well, and finally in Rome, in the documentation at the Central State Archive.
